Ok, I have read so many things on whether a performance exhaust is good for the engine on the car. M104 24 valve engine.

Do you all have any suggestions on how we can provide a performance system exhaust (not to loud, but throaty) on the '92 300CE? Something that won't break my son's bank?

I have heard if you take the existing resonator out that would do the trick, others say new magnaflow cat and muffler system. I am confused....especially living in CA.
