So, I am refreshing this thread with this new question:

Will my newly acquired 1984 turbo 300td WAGON transmission work on earlier 300D sedans?
(specifically bolt onto an '82 turbo sedan without any mods)
I need to add that this donor trans may be more like an 1985 as "It has the 'blue flying saucer' in the vacuum system to improve shifts..."

I will try to get the actual part number off the transmission as soon as we dry out here

Is there any reference section or earlier thread that covers ALL the w123 transmissions and cross compatibility (or necessary modifications) between different years?
Sure would be nice from someone that knew the answers...
