from your 2003 link - Although the inferred increase of solar irradiance in 24 years, about 0.1 percent, is not enough to cause notable climate change, the trend would be important if maintained for a century or more.

I don't believe that anyone is claiming absolute knowledge in the climate debate (except for the hardline naysayers) rather, the ongoing research is highlighting effects that are created by man.

It all seems like the acid rain debate.
