In Boston several years ago, a chiropractor was going to take a long vacation, so he arranged for an agency to send a replacement chiro, who was licensed in another part of the state, but not competition for the Boston chiro.

On the replacement's first day, he performed a lumbar adjustment on the patient and the patient jumped off the table and screamed "What are you doing to me? Are you trying to kill me?" The replacement chiro had reviewed the guy's chart and seen that he and gotten at least 20 of the lumbar adjustments before.

Then he noticed that the patient was being seen for a low back work comp injury and surmised that this guy had never had an actual chiropractic adjustment at any time.
