Good point but this is a false economy. We as consumers are benefiting from the lower cost goods but we lose out the hundreds of jobs that were eliminated or never became reality. Without the jobs, you cannot sustain just a consumer only society.

Companies that blame unions for factories closing in the US are taking the easy way out. If they deal with the 'people' fairly then it can work. Why did MB start up the plant for MLs in the US instead of Mexico where the labor cost would be lower?

The one good thing about opening up the market and providing 'Most Favored Nation' trading status with China is that eventally there will be enough pressure to make the overseas facilities conform to a certain level of standards (working conditions, pay, etc). It may never reach NA standards but it is a start.
