You'd probably be better served posting this in either the diesel forum or the tech forum. Regarding the manuals, you might still be able to get the MB manuals from MBUSA, 1-800-FOR-MERC. I was able to get paper manuals for my 4.5. You can also get the CD-Rom versions right here through PartsShop.
With your 240D you'll have lots of online help from many of the members. Not much you won't be able to do.
