EDIT: My comment seems dismissive of the Mountain State, so I feel I should mention that it is one of my favorite places, especially the eastern and northeastern parts of the state. The portion that includes the Shenandoah River, for example, is very nice. Thomas Jefferson said that Harper's Ferry, where the Shenandoah meets the Potomac, "is perhaps one of the most stupendous scenes in nature..." It's a great place.

Quite a little hike out to Jefferson's Rock. I believe he also said that the view was worth the voyage across the Atlantic. Not sure about that, but it is a nice view.
