Watched the documentary, Stonewall Uprising today. That was quite a remarkable event. The willingness of gays and lesbians to resist mistreatment when it had been going on for such a long time, the restraint of the lead morals detective in insisting that his officers not fire their guns unless ordered to do so by him, and the crowds that joined in to support created a crucial moment in history which expanded the sexual freedoms of Americans. Yet, not a single student in either of my classes today had heard of it.
