as a further comment, id definitely recycle that aluminum rim. I was reading about cast aluminum heat treating processes, and if anything could have been affected, it was probably that rim more than the steel.
Don't really know anything about aluminum processes, but with all the bundts kicking around in yards, id toss the one that was part of the fire, grab another one, and see if the fire affected the subframe. If we worry about anything being damaged by the head body wise, it should be the welded rear subframe on that side.
as a parallel, I once nearly burned my work van to the ground with an explosive engine fire, where the fire department and I were both convinced it was done completely, but I went through, did some rewiring, replaced damaged components, and about 500 bucks later, ive been using it daily since. that was over a year ago. I think that car is salvageable if you want to keep it.
