Newt is/was such an enigma. He says so much of the right things, and then says/does some really stupid things. He seems the very definition of a political animal--willing to say anything, or adopt any position to get elected.
For me the most damning thing was this--After he came up with the very popular Contract with America-- and rode that all the way to become Speaker of the House---he has no support from fellow Representatives from that time. None that I can see. No one has come forward and said. " Newt led us successfully back then, and he is the man to do it again" No one. The silence is deafening. Something is seriously wrong with that picture.
Where I would love to see him in a prospective Romney administration would be as the Press Secretary. Daily White House briefings would be something to set the DVR for. He would have daily opportunities to spare with the press--something he seems to relish--and lecture them on their faulty ideas. It would be a hoot.
