55 amps. may have been OK in 1984, but I'd really like a bit more capacity for the full elect. load when stuck around town with all systems on.

I know about the 300E alternator and charging harness upgrade; but has anyone swapped in an 80 amp. alternator from 500, 560 series 126 chassis to a 300SD. I know about Ultranator and one wire Delco (not what I want).

The electrical connection is easily handled, but even though I've had the AL69X (80 amp.) and the AL117X (55 amp.) in my hands, I've never had them at the same time, side by side to compare. Will the higher capacity alt. physically mount up with 300SD stock bracket and cradle? What have others done, that's easy.
