LinkedIn is a great tool for job hunters. It's proven itself to be a valuable tool for professional networking as well. Due in part to my contacts, I have been able to locate manufacturing businesses in the US that will generally beat the pricing of overseas firms, which is a personal requirement for the times I have to have work sent out.
I have been offered a rather large number of opportunities to interview for companies all over the US, as well as abroad, and have kept up with these contacts from time to time...just in case I ever decide to change states again.
Don't use it as Facebook is used...keep any and all political, religious and other personal posts off of it. It's not used to keep up with friends, bu rather as a valuable business tool.
