Two reasons:
1. EPA, NHTSA, etc mandate a whole bunch of unnecessary garbage in cars that weighs them down and hurts fuel economy.
2. More importantly, the OEM's don't think such a car would sell in large numbers, so they don't bother trying to sell one here.
