rain-x is GREAT for the rain, especially at night. i don't even use my wipers at night as long as not many car's are coming towards me. you can't even tell there is water on the windshield. unless the headlights of a car point towards you.
as for clarity, Rain-X creates a haze on your windshield that you are supposed to wipe off. putting Rain-X on there and not wiping it off will just make visibility and clarity worse. plus if you ARE putting it on, you're supposet to have a clean windshield anyways.
