I grew up in Northern Cincinnati, just 40 miles south of Dayton. I would say 60-70% or more of manufacturing was automotive and they were smug about it. diversify smircify, we dont have to worry the car industry will be here forever....... as for the machinists, the old 15 year of training guys got supplanted by CNC, most failed to grow and got passed by. I love the area, and the industry was once great, but they had a good run, longer then most, and didnt look for the next big thing.
