When you are not concerned about damaging the seal, a small slide hammer threaded into the metal face of the seal always pops them out. Sometimes you may need a couple of opposing holes popped sequentially, but I've never had it fail. And on recessed seals with part of a shaft sticking through, it's the only way you will ever get them out.

That might have worked well on these Seals because they are Big and there is at least 1/2" between the Bore and the Lip if the Seal. Also the Seal had some decent Metal on it.
