No thanks in NYC -- I can see a car backfiring or a bridge plate snapping back and having 100 numbskulls with guns waving around.

Unconstitutional police searches and gun laws are entirely separate issues. Speaking of laws, I wouldn't mind seeing shall-issue gun licenses (they're not currently shall-issue in NYC, solely at police discretion). But I don't think that carry permits should be given out without due cause in a crowded city.

I'm fine with people keeping a weapon for home defense, business defense, or to go hunting outside of the city. But keep them where they belong, not carried on the street. Concealed carry should be limited to people who handle large amounts of cash, or have a specific threat to their lives.

What's appropriate in rural Texas, Vermont, or Arizona isn't necessarily appropriate in NY City.
