Yellow Box Textars -- just got ‘em so I don't know any history. I’ve read about them here and there and there was a piece in the MBClub ‘Star’ magazine on them. Don't know the composition either. Personally I don't care about noise, as I feel good brakes should squeak sometimes (it's friction, right!?), and excessive squeaking comes from glazing. Get ‘em hot several times on hard stops and they should stop all that noise. Screeching is another matter and probably an install problem or material problem or perhaps even a bearing (just had a bad bearing and hub that did only make noise under braking for a time). My mechanic got them for me, but I have seen them online and on eBay.
