No easy way I found to get it out. The worm assembly in these is such that the motor wont pull out without removing the worm gear first, this requires removing the backside plate which would also let you pull the cable reel. To do this you would need some low profile torx bits.

However the root cause of the failure is the slider assembly to the cable. The plate that locks it in place is locked by a plastic tab, this brakes and then the plate can rotate down along with the pivot. It can be pushed back in place but is likely to pop out again without the clip. I thought of making a clamp to hold it together in the shop but I figured It was not worth the effort - time to order a new one, unless I decide to make a whole new slider assembly....
