If you still need a diesel PU, keep the one you have. It's one of the best PU's ever made by anyone. While the '96 will have the simpler engine (that BTW develops just 1/2 the power of your '03), the chassis falls far short in the brakes and suspension department. I have had both, and wouldn't trade the '03 even for a brand new truck.
