I'm not familiar with the 126 but doubt that they are that much different from other cars made in the same era by M-B. The windows (why they didn't add limit switches I'll never understand) seem to be designed to run all the way up or down and then stall the motor. Breakage probably indicates old, worn components, not a design failure.
