Does anyone know of a way to improve the quality of gear shifts? I have an E220, but I have driven other models like the C220 and they all have fairly firm shifts especially when cold. It tends to shift better the harder I drive, meaning gear changes are smoother at higher rev ranges.

My mechanic said that's the way they are and there are adjustments. Is he right?
