Current landlord's space will be receiving a nice visit from local city health code officials as soon as Ive moved the most important items.

I couldn't do it to him.
Moved out, built up a huge about of rage against this guy, researched and printed out official complaint forms for about 20 different health and safety violations, complete with signed testimony and referenced photographs, and emptied the space completely.
Then on the last day, was going by the place for a last checkup and ready to mail the key, when i run into the landlord who was unannounced up from FL, and I just lost my rage against him. He just seemed sad to lose me as a tenant, and just had a stricken look to him when I showed him all the issues.
To my shame I even amended my real reason for moving out, which was his inactivity as a landlord, and said I was moving closer to business suppliers (also true).
I decided I would let it go at his word that he would do something about the health problems, and not push it unless he tried to get that last months rent out of me.
