The very fact that chips are being discussed is anathema to one who values freedom from government control.

Big Brother has apparently gained a strong foothold while John Q Hoople was busy bulli*****ting about the inequity of life and trying to outspend his fellows on houses too large, goods he doesn't need and can't afford to impress people he doesn't like while patting himself on the back by cheating on his taxes.

It's not really about political control so much as financial control.
