I noticed that Biden recently gave credit to "Will and Grace" for promoting tolerance of gay people. It reminded me of when Quayle blamed "Murphy Brown" for not promoting family values. Quayle was pummeled mercilessly for that one, but I didn't hear much criticism of Biden's "Will and Grace" comment. I see two possible explanations:

Liberal bias: Claims of liberal bias in the media are mostly a bunch of baloney, but that might be what's going on here.

People respect Biden: Quayle was a jackass from the get-go. Biden has foot-in-mouth disease, but is generally seen as a decent and competent guy. He has earned some benefit of the doubt which Quayle doesn't deserve.
