It has to be extremely difficult watching one of our children go totally off the rails. A lot of parents have minor problems with their children to contend with in comparison. But at the time they seem large. Exercising some perspective at those times can help them define serious to almost neglishable problems.
Watching the effects of drugs on individuals. I only wish that we had actually had a real war on drugs. I have heard all kinds of excuses why we did not.
I care too much for people to really understand why we did not. What a waste of life comes to mind for so many addicts. The only thing it all proves to me is that we can be our own worse enemies quite easily.
Hopefully for your family there might eventually be better times ahead. The old expression that rock bottom has to be hit sometimes by a troubled individual first is a possibility. This sounds like it is getting closer if not present now. Your thread may have been a wake up call for some parents to watch their children a little closer. If so it has been more than worthwhile. No family gets a blanket excemption from potential problems.
