Zulfi is right on. Taking out the airbag is not too bad on the 124. On my car, I had the airbag out to change the HVAC aspirator fan, and I noticed that two vac hoses were disconnected from the vacuum manifold (which I found quite surprising) and when I reconnected them my center vents started working again. I had thought my center vents were not operating due to shot pods, which seems to be pretty common as the cars age. Was not looking forward to dash removal, etc. With the airbag out you can see a couple of the pods, but I don't know if they are changeable or not, as I didn't try.
