Asking prices are not actually selling prices. We've all seen the w123s and w126s on eBay where the people are asking like $50k for them, no way would they actually sell for that, maybe not even 10% of it. A lot of pricing on older cars like that is simply due to uncertainty (ignorance) of the market.
