They brought my wife and I down to Savannah for my interview, which went well. The owner's wife and the VP's wife entertained my wife while I met with the Owner, VP, Plant manager, head of HR, and VP of Sales. 3 of the 5, I already knew from Dayton...I worked with them in the past, which is why they are so interested in me. They gave me a tour, then we headed to a firing range to play with some of the products they make.
After the interview, we were entertained on Tybee Island for a few hours, and ate at Uncle Bubba's Crab House...great place to eat! Tybee Island is a nice island community without the highrise hotels. It's best to traverse the island like we did...in golf carts.
During the interview, the head of HR was pulled out for a family emergency...I later found out that her father passed away. I'm currently waiting for her to return, because she has to write up the job offer.
We've located a decent area that we are interested in, but won't dig too deep into it until the offer is made, debated on, and accepted. The area is in SC, midway between the two plants.
I was told to expect the offer some time this week.
As for the work, it's what I'm best at...designing and building fixtures and jigs, designing preventative maintenance schedules for existing fixtures and jigs, and working closely with engineers on new products.
I've already told them that they would have to help in some manner or another with the sale of our current home and acquiring a new residence. I'm hoping for one of two things...they either locate a buyer for my current home, or they purchase it at a loss and sell it at a later date. Neither is out of line in today's business.
I'm hoping to begin the next phase of the dance by Friday...the negotiations.
