I'm afraid my analytical side would kick in, no matter the cost or level of subsidy.
You'd be paying to PURCHASE the car, but what is it going to cost me long term to OWN the car?
Gift tax, property tax, insurance, maintenance, fuel, etc. It might be while you're subsidizing the purchase of the car, within the limits of my normal budget I just can't afford to own it.
