Go back to your car, and keep playing with the key. wiggle, jiggle, hopefully you'll giggle (when it turns)

Alot of the time it's caused by the steering wheel locking mechanism. which gets triggered when the key is removed.

You can test this by turning the key to start and turning off, but not removing the key and repeatingly start the vehicle again. keep repeating.
