No padlock is able to keep a thief out...they are meant only to keep honest people honest.
Friend of mine had a small business with a 6 foot chain link fence around it. He used a very stout looking disk padlock on the rolling gate. One night, someone used an angle grinder to cut through it and they stole an expensive equipment trailer. Lock looked like this:



What I can't understand is why someone would go to the trouble of cutting through a hardened industrial lock when they could have much more easily cut the galvanized steel of the fence latch. Or they could have removed a couple of bolts with a Crescent wrench and simply removed the latch.
