I'm 32 and empathize more with the youth than some old bible-thumper(*) who managed to buy himself into the office of mayor. Then again, irrational solutions like his are typical of people who attempt to convince the world that some fairy up in the sky actually exists and gives a damn about the world.
(*) - Mayor Nutter's other job is "Baptist minister."
PS - this was not a "serious situation." This was a few punks who thought they were tough. Solution: put some plainclothes cops out with concealed radios and weapons. Pick the shortest and most fragile-looking ones, since they'd seem like the best targets. Then when a yout' mob tries to mess with them, send in the cavalry and bust some heads. Send a clear message to "flash mobbers" that they'll end up either hospitalized or in general jail population if they continue their games.
