Kind of close.

I was coming out of Taos NM drving back to Tucson from a ski trip. I do not remember what road it was but it was two lanes and not even close to no where. No cars in sight so the I kept inching up the speedo. I had a 91 Eclipse GTX at the time. The cruise control only went to 90 even thought the car would go faster. I remember cursing the speed control at the time but it ended up being a good thing. We were a few miles out of a 'town' and I was cruising at 90. Gt lit up and I pull to the side. I'm thinking "Dukes of Hazzard". I'm going to be in jail and no one will hear from me. I was young and this was my first traffic stop, what did I know?

The officer asks if I know how fast I was going. Well, duh.... I had the cruise set. I paused and he said he had me at 75. I'm running his answer and my answer through my head and I decided I liked his better. A lot better. So I got a ticket for 75 instead of 90. Win win.

I figured he was just sitting on the side of the road. I had a radar detector and it never made a noise so I think he just say a white flash and new I was going faster then I should have been going.

Then there the "abusing a finite resource" ticket in AZ. Up to 10 over the limit and it was a few bucks ($10-$15 IIRC and no points) Gotta love those.
