The R's want to spend less money is the thought () and the D's want early voting for everyone- even those that do not need it, or do not need it as much. So the D's are saying early voting for all at a higher cost, and the R's are asking for early voting for the military alone; that concept I approve of. I don't believe that a firefighter needs more time to vote. My family history is full of firefighters and I know they have just about more time than anyone 'cept those without work on the public dole sitting in a housing project.
Unless your shift falls on a voting day.

The BIG OIL company I retired from would give you time off during the day to go vote unless you were in a 'vital' position like mine. Once we entered the area, which was a high security area, we could not leave until our shift was over. Shifts were 12 hours, and with travel time to and from work the day lasted 14 hours.

If your shift fell on a voting day... Tough. No voting for you!

So we just started calling in sick in order to give us enough time to vote and then show up for work. Of course, any sick time taken counted against you during your annual review, but we never worried about those because no one could remember the last time anyone ever was promoted out of our group. At our level the next step up would have been a VP slot, and we knew that was not going to take place.

There is no good reason for any government body to restrict what is a Right. None at all. The only reason for restricting the voting rights of anyone or any group is because the party in power fears the voters.

Think about that for a moment, and then see if you still think restricting the Rights of a voter is OK.

If so, whose rights should the government restrict next? Gun owners? Radio broadcasters?
