If used in the proper manner eight would be all you would need.
The planning that would go into such an event would be the critical part, but there is only one thing that a Leader can count on in battle and that is that something will go wrong.
How the Leader deals with the situation when it goes wrong is what determines success or failure. If the Leader is locked into one way of doing things they had better hope that one way works. Otherwise they are doomed to fail.
I don't know what they might have up their sleeve or who they might be cutting a deal with, but to go it alone would seem to be a poor way of doing things.
