OK, so please explain to me how the electoral college works in California. It is my understanding that if a candidate wins the popular vote in a state the electoral votes go for him.

If a candidate were to get less votes because his voters did not have enough time to vote wouldn't that affect the overall result and therefore the electoral vote?
