I had a fellow do some tree work for me a week or so ago. I gave him a written list of what I wanted him to do because last time he did work for me it seemed that after he was "done" he had not done all that we discussed verbally.
So he gets done and I look at the work from my deck. There is a huge bare spot in my woods now and after looking there was a tree that he was supposd to leave after cutting out the dead and wind damaged ones.
So I talk to him tonight and asked him why he took the extra tree out. He said when he took one of the ones on the list it fell and broke the top out of the tree in question so he went ahead and took it too since "He was sure I woudln't want a tree with the top broken out."
And he charged me extra for taking the extra tree out (which I did not want taken out).
I am feeling a bit shat on.
I feel he should have called me about the extra tree. Rather than a bare zone in my woods I believe I would have chosen to keep the tree with the broken top, neatly cut off so it could keep growing. Charging me extra for a mistake by him seems over the top.
