Did you remove any oil??? Did you flush?

What kind of car? Compressor? refrigerant? If you are starting with a new clean system most MBs take around seven ounces of oil.

It is definitely worse to have too much oil than too little. Too much oil overworks the compressor and/or will lock it up. To little oil reduces lubrication and leads to the worse kinds of compressor failures; those that scatter debris throughout the system.
