Is it supposed to be metal or a plastic plug?

Admittedly, I didn't spend that much time with it but when I felt it with my fingers it seemed to flex, like plastic.

Not really interested in draining and re-filling, just want to be sure my drain plug is secure so I don't get that "big surprise."
