Removed intake for gasket change and found a hole worn thru the manifold by loose and falling apart flapper valves inside the intake! some were even laying on the inner floor of the manifold. With all of this there was no change in performance or fuel economy just the 2 codes P2187 & P2189 both banks lean at idle.This looks like an expensive intake EPC shows it as an assembly only. nothing on it is repairable not even the vacum pods on the front

wow, I hate to hear that. I've been working with a customer with an 04 ML350 and have so far been resolving vacuum leaks. If it comes back in I'll pull the intake to see what is going on. Vehicle has over 250k miles and drives/runs out good. Were you able to get some pictures?
