Original?

it's cool that your old pump had the enclosed bearings, so I doubt it's original. hold onto it for a spare, or clean it up and sell it here used. I'm fairly certain anybody looking to replace their open design would buy your closed design for a few bucks!

The date codes on the old pumps match the dates of manufacture for the two cars so I think they are indeed original. Do we (the forum) know the approximate date Pierburg changed to the enclosed bearing? I get the feeling it was before 1990, like maybe 1988?
Good advice, I think I'll sell one and keep one for a spare.
