The guy is making official payments to you with a contract, or you cut him a deal and let him not pay fully up front?
IMO, if someone can't buy a 20+ year old car outright for its asking or its negotiated price, then they shouldn't be in the market at all for another car.
Sounds to me like you are too nice a guy vstech. If it were me, no car is leaving my hands until its fully paid for, and I have a signed bill of sale stating "as is, as seen, no warranty implied or given".
