Which pole on the sender goes to the temp gauge?
I have a 1987 300TD with a replacement engine from....I don't know what. But on the replacement engine, at the second core hole is a two-pole temp sender 008-542-56-17. From what I understand, this is from later models where one pole goes to the temp gauge and one pole goes to the afterglow relay. But, in my car, there's only a single pole lead, the one that goes to the temp gauge.
Rather than install a one-pole sender, I think I'll just connect the lead to one of the poles. Does it matter which pole? And, if so, which one is for the temp gauge?
