A little disturbed by this
Government contractors are instructed by the administration to ignore the WARN act, leaving thousands or workers unsure about their future.
Defense companies that are facing huge layoffs due to sequestration are legally required to inform their workers 60 days before possible layoffs take effect. Due to the effective fiscal cliff date of January 2, those layoff notices would have to be distributed on November 2 to hundreds of thousands of people living in swing states like Virginia, just days before the election.
Strangely, the OMB has deemed the notices unnecessary and inconsistent with the intent of the WARN act. Not only that, the administration promised to reimburse these companies for any lawsuits and damages caused by ignoring the WARN act 60-day notice requirement.
Lockheed-Martin has now reversed it's original plan to notify its employees, effectively keeping them in the dark, and setting the stage for huge lawsuits that taxpayers are being obligated to pay for. What the????
