Were you to successfully block the area from which it's dripping, it would begin to fill the bell housing, and then your converter and flywheel would start hitting the pool of oil, and then start slinging it, and then it would start leaking from other places to which it was being slung. After it shorted the starter out (assuming it didn't ignite or cause other problems before then) it would really be a big mess to clean up.
If this bothers you that much, then fix it. In the meanwhile, put down a piece of cardboard to soak up the spills.
