Yes the old 2.5 turbo uses a similar transmission which will bolt right up. The difference is the shift points, the 1995 E300D valve body and governor may have differences as it shifts at higher rpm compared to the 2.5 turbo

It will work bolt on but just shift too quick for the OM606's liking - for gov'ner look up James dean thread on replacing the drive gear for it.
