Today was a Good Day - Valve Adjustment and Starter R&R

It seems like so often some of these projects that are supposed to take a few hours end up taking a day. Or two. Or three. Today I adjusted my valves in a about an hour - getting pretty good at it. And then R&R'd the starter in about ninety minutes (nice to have the NA 617 sometimes). Tested all of my glow plugs in about forty five minutes, and found just one that wasn't working. It's amazing when things go as planned (quicker than planned actually)!

BTW - the reman starter I bought from a big box auto parts store 9 years ago never did seem quite right. It always seemed to struggle and turn really slowly. I bought a real-deal Bosch reman (the turbo version) last year and never got around to putting in until today. What a difference! I've been having trouble with cold starts these past couple of weeks but got home tonight and gave it a go just to see - it's 1:00 am and about 30 degrees. Fired right up after just a quick glow. I'm talking instantly fired, this starter just has so much more oomph. Wish I would have replaced it years ago!

Tomorrow I'm going to run a couple cans of diesel purge, change the fuel filters and put in some fresh synthetic 5W-40 and my cold starting struggles will be a thing of the past!
