Thank you all for the information you have provided thus far.
The '82 300TD turbo diesel does not come equiped with a manual cockpit idle adjustment knob. I've just installed new Bosch Rebuilt injectors. Car start at 10? F temperature without a plug heater on the first try, so the compression is healthy. If there is an idle adjustment on the throttle linkage, I'm concerned that boosting idle to benefit cold start will mean that engine will run at high idle once warm.
Don't these engines have the equivalent of what gasoline FI engines have for cold starts - a cold start injector that richens fuel supply when cold to bump RPMs until engine warms and can hold its own? (maybe built into the fuel injector pump) Or perhaps there's some type of selenoid or ramping device on the throttle linkages that mechanically holds the throttle down while engine warms (ie. like carburated engines where one pressed the pedal to the floor once to engage the high idle cam, and then again gave pedal a quick press to disengage once engine was warm).
Thanks for replys '-\
