My 87 124 has a frame around the shifter, it is stapled and glued to the underside of the wood piece. It is plastic with a piece of vinyl pressed into it all the way around the edge. Problem is I need a new piece and can't find one. I understand the newer cars use one that snaps in from the top. Question is will the newer version fit my 87 124? Mine is apparantly out of production. My part number is 124 6830006. I would buy a used one if anyone has one.
